This is the house I was born in, the photo is from 1973 when they were moving the house from Perma Montana to Arlee Montana, a trek of about 30 miles on a busy two-lane state highway.

The photographer, a close family friend took only slide photos well into the 1990's and is infamous within his group of friends for his loooooonnnnggg slide shows.

On this episode of Tiny House Hunters, Highlander MT’s family says a big “IDGAF” to the Tiny House movement and just Honey Badgers their house straight to the next town.

That truck is very weird - the one doing the heavy lifting, that is.

It’s kind of like some early 60s Studebakers, but I don’t even really know where to begin IDing it. The thing with set lights *in* the fenders is very uncommon, and the shape of the fenders is weirder still.

It has to be a 2-3 ton truck, I’m guessing from around 1950 or so...

The style of fenders on it is similar to those that Mack was using (or occasionally Ford), but the radiator surround seems unlike anything I’ve ever seen from those two and the fenders are weirdly curved around at the sides.

Compare/contrast:

The window doesn’t look like it has a center divider either, that should be distinct. Otherwise it really looks like a MACK

All that trouble when you could have just waited a few years and become part of Canada instead.

Ha, yeah I’ve seen this too, it’s a great idea.

Combining ignorance of how the national debt works with a land swap deal based on (possible) beaver infestation! What could go wrong?

Not gonna explain why? Seems like a lot of trouble to move the whole house.

They bought the structure and moved it, thinking it would be less expensive than building new. They didn’t have much money back then.

Wretched illustrations inbound. I think the truck in the picture has modular fenders like the Mack (weld up to required width for use on medium or heavy duty based on application), but I think underneath the corner fillets the basic shape of the fender falls away from the front more than the Mack, which is slightly more of a smoothed box:

Kinja'd!!!

It’s hard to see because the fillet radius on the Mack fenders is huge, but I think I’m seeing that.

The fender also stands just a few inches ahead of the cowl, which is opposite how it is on a Mack and most Internationals , and unlike a Mack it has a full perforated fascia ahead of the radiator a little like a later International Loadstar but with four “columns” .

Kinja'd!!!

It also has a tall skirt-style bumper for some reason, the header space on the radiator fascia is taller than on a Mack, and the fenders actually occlude the front of the fascia slightly.

Frankly, the “spirit” of the styling seems to me most reminiscent of a ‘48 Continental, which is weird, man.

Pretty sure it was a 1950s International Harvester R190

If you look at the grill it is wider at the bottom than the upper part as seen below

Yep I think it is an early 50s International heavy truck

I hadn’t considered that possibility, because the horizontal bars don’t really “pop out” in the picture. If they’re painted black or missing, that cou ld be it.

Enhance.gif I’m on m oble but you can faintly see the bars (painted black) along with where the IH logo would be above the grill
